Demoing Identity Providers: Best Practices
Digital IDs can be tricky to demo. Not every provider supports test data, which means some demos require a real, live digital ID credential to test end-to-end. With that in mind, there are four reliable ways we recommend demoing Identity Providers to prospects and other stakeholders:
- Demo using test data
- Demo with live credentials
- Show pre-recorded demo videos
- Use slides with screenshots
Demo using test data
The simplest way to demo is with test data, but not all providers support a sandbox or test mode. For a full list, see: Providers with Test Data Available
We typically recommend starting with these providers:
- United States: LA Wallet, Google Wallet, CLEAR
- Europe: iDIN, BankID Czech, France Identité (EUDI Wallet Sandbox)

Demo with live credentials
Live demos using real credentials can be very compelling, but they come with tradeoffs:
- Team members may have access to different credential types depending on geography
- Many people prefer not to show personal data during a prospect call
If your team is comfortable proceeding, here are the strongest live demo options by provider type:
- mDLs: CA DMV Wallet, Google Wallet
- Google Wallet’s ID Pass is widely accessible in the US and UK, requires no approvals for demo use, and is one of the easiest providers to showcase.
- Bank-based IDs: iDIN, BankID Sweden, OneID (UK)
- Private reusable IDs: Yoti
- Yoti is free, globally accessible, and has a strong user experience — making it a great demo provider.
- Government digital IDs: DigiLocker (India)

Show pre-recorded demo videos
Pre-recorded demos are often the most scalable option:
- PII can be scrubbed
- The flow can be paused or replayed
- Anyone can share the same high-quality demo regardless of geography
If you need help capturing footage in a specific market, you can use Trinsic’s Testing Request feature. Our network of production Acceptance Testers can record real credential flows, and we’ll redact PII before delivering the final video.

Show slides with UX screenshots
For a lightweight alternative to video, slides with step-by-step screenshots work extremely well.
They’re easy to present, easy to update, and avoid the unpredictability of live demos. We recommend pulling screenshots from Trinsic demo videos (or your own recordings) to build a simple visual walkthrough.
